Updated Tata Tiago Unveiled: Fresh Look, New Tech, Same Value Promise

Tata Bronkhorstspruit, part of the Digi Cars Group, is excited to share the news that Tata has officially unveiled the updated Tiago hatchback, bringing a fresh exterior design, a modernised cabin and a host of new technology to one of the brand's most pocket-friendly offerings.

It is a significant moment for Tata in South Africa. The brand officially re-entered the local passenger car market in August 2025 with four new models: the value-oriented Punch compact SUV, the coupé-styled Curvv crossover, the Harrier SUV and the Tiago hatchback. The Tiago is now the first of that quartet to receive a comprehensive update, and there is plenty to talk about.

A Sharper, More Modern Exterior

The biggest changes to the Tiago's exterior come at the front and rear. Up front, the hatchback now wears Lux Beam LED headlamps with integrated LED daytime-running lights, paired with a redesigned grille that gives the Tiago a more confident, contemporary face.

At the rear, a Halo light strip spans the full width of the tailgate, giving the updated Tiago an unmistakable signature look both day and night.

Along the profile, the updated Tiago picks up a number of styling touches that lift the overall look:

  • A contrasting black roof
  • Wheel arch cladding for added visual presence
  • Door handles finished with chrome accents
  • New 15-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels on higher-specced models

The result is a hatchback that punches well above its price point on kerb appeal.

A Modernised, Tech-Forward Cabin

Inside, the Tiago's cabin has been completely modernised. Fabric upholstery is used throughout, appearing on the dashboard, the dual-tone seats, the front armrest and the door cards, giving the interior a softer, more premium feel than you would expect at this price.

The centrepiece is the new 10.25-inch HD infotainment touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, paired with digital instrumentation and a new multifunction steering wheel.

Other interior highlights include:

  • Dual wireless smartphone charging pads
  • 360-degree camera array
  • Keyless start/stop
  • Cooled glovebox
  • Auto-folding wing mirrors
  • Electric tailgate
  • Automatic air conditioning with rear air vents
  • Front and rear USB-C ports

For a hatchback in this segment, that is a remarkably generous feature list, and it speaks directly to Tata's commitment to bringing genuine value to South African buyers.

Safety That Punches Above Its Weight

Safety has also received serious attention. The updated Tiago is fitted with six airbags, ISOFIX child seat anchorage points on the second row, Electronic Stability Control (ESC) with traction control, and Hill Hold Control.

The Tiago's ADAS suite also includes blind-spot monitoring, an advanced driver assistance feature you do not often find in this segment, further underlining Tata's intent to deliver more than the price tag suggests.

Familiar, Proven Power

Under the bonnet, the updated Tiago retains the proven 1.2-litre atmospheric three-cylinder Revotron petrol engine, producing 63 kW and 113 N.m of torque. The engine is mated to either a five-speed manual or a five-speed automated manual transmission (AMT), giving customers a choice between hands-on driving and effortless urban convenience.

It is the kind of straightforward, fuel-efficient powertrain that makes sense for the Tiago's mission as a sensible, value-driven daily driver.

Why This Matters for Our Customers

The updated Tiago is exactly the kind of car the South African market needs right now: affordable, well-equipped, safer than expected and refreshed with technology that buyers in higher segments take for granted. For us at Tata Bronkhorstspruit, it strengthens an already compelling line-up that includes the Punch, Curvv and Harrier.

If you have been watching Tata's return to South Africa with interest, the updated Tiago is well worth a closer look.
